Something about music implies transcendence. Something about drone implies the infinite. As a believer in both, my music often reaches towards those concepts. Although the creation of this piece was completely serendipitously accidental, it certainly does that. I don't know how it happened, but I was taking field recordings off my Tascam and loading them into the computer for editing. I turned my back for a moment and somehow Garageband had loaded every field recording and live recorded performance I had taken on my Tascam for the last couple months into individual tracks and layered them aimlessly on top of each other. Instead of deleting it all and going back to what I was working on, I was eagerly curious to see what the wild collage of sounds would be like. Thinking that maybe there would be just a couple of moments that sounded cool, that I could maybe sample, I was surprised that I enjoyed every moment of it and the pacing throughout. The resulting sound collage, which is a combination of many field recordings of nature and several live recorded performances, including my bandmate and I's live performance for SXSW 2022, suggests something my bandmate and I have talked a lot about in theory, musical and otherwise: being in multiple places at the same time. This accidental sound collage is ethereal and psychedelic throughout, powerful at times and serene at others, and is an aural manifestation of that surreal concept of being in many places at once. Use it for meditation, introspection, or if its true like they say that "music transports you," use it to practice being in many places at once <3
